Samuel Kamunyu Njoroge holds a Master of Arts and a First-Class Honours bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Nairobi. He is an alumnus fellow of the Fletcher School Leadership Program for Financial Inclusion at Tufts University (USA)—Kenya’s sole representative in the 2019 cohort. Kamunyu is also a Certified Knowledge Manager (KM Institute, USA), and has completed the Capital Markets Programme by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI, UK) and an Executive Course in Pension Fund Investment and Management at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania (USA).
He is a Council Member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (ICIFA), representing the CMA and he has served at the Authority at Management level since 2005 in: Education, Awareness & Certification, Special Projects, Corporate Communications and Market Development. Previously he worked with the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) as an Economist, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) as Assistant Manager Research, and the Institute of Policy Analysis and Research (IPAR) as a Research Associate.
Kamunyu was instrumental in establishing the Kenya Capital Markets Certification Programme and the Growth Enterprise Market Segment (GEMS) at the Nairobi Securities Exchange. He has also played a key role in the approval of capital markets products and services.
In 2002, he was among 50 young Kenyans who developed a visionary policy paper under the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) titled “The Promise of Our Generation” (IEA, 2003).
His regional and local policy work includes contributions to: The High-Level Task Force on the EAC Common Market Protocol, The Joint Financial Sector Regulators Forum (Kenya) and the East African Securities Regulatory Authorities (EASRA).
He is a Fellow of the Economic Society of Kenya (ESK) and member of MKIM, CIFA, MCSI (UK), IEA, and MIoD-K. Beyond work, Kamunyu had served as a BoM Member at Loreto High School Limuru, Strategic Advisor to the St. Paul’s UoN Chapel Self-Help Group, and is Treasurer of the Parish Pastoral Council at St. Paul’s Catholic Chaplaincy and Parish.
