CMA grants a Fund Management License, an Investment Advisor License and registers a new Venture Capital Company
Nairobi, 28 May 2026…… The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) has approved additional licenses for firms seeking to operate as Fund Managers and Investment Advisors. CMA also approved the registration of a Venture Capital Company.
The approvals form part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to deepen Kenya’s capital markets, enhance innovation and expand access to investment services across retail, institutional, corporate, diaspora and high-net-worth investor segments.
Karsis Asset Managers Limited has been granted a Fund Manager license. The firm intends to offer private wealth management services alongside a planned suite of regulated unit trust funds covering money market, fixed income, balanced, equity and special or innovative strategies.
In further strengthening the advisory segment of the market, the Authority has granted an Investment Adviser license for Vepris Cap Limited. The firm will provide technology-driven trading and advisory services in Kenya’s capital markets, with a primary focus on fixed-income instruments, targeting both retail and institutional clients.
The Authority also approved the registration of E-Gum Ventures Limited as a Venture Capital Company. E-Gum is expected to operate a unified multi-fund platform comprising; a Project Fund focused on capital preservation through investment in Government-linked infrastructure and capital market instruments; an Innovation Fund targeting high-growth technology startups across fintech, agritech and healthtech; and an Impact Fund providing blended-finance solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The expansion of these intermediaries will contribute to increased market depth, improved product diversity, enhanced investor choice, and strengthened confidence in Kenya’s capital markets. The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) was set up in 1989 as a statutory agency under the Capital Markets Act Cap 485A. It is charged with the prime responsibility of both regulating and developing an orderly, fair, and efficient capital markets in Kenya with the view to promoting market integrity and investor confidence. CMA also regulates the structured commodity markets and online forex trading.
